Hello
Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus - Happy St. David’s Day
I hope all is well with you as we start to move into a bright spring and (hopefully) happier times.
New Welsh Review has just published an extract from my forthcoming book, Form, which I describe as being my ‘personal handbook for making photographs in the Valleys’. The book includes a number of essays about my thinking around making work in the Valleys, along with a selection of photographs including early works that have not been published previously. Form will be available in early autumn 2021 - you can find a little more information about this book here.
The chapter being previewed by NWR is called Reflections, an essay that considers the influence of Walker Evans’ American Photographs on my own Valleys work, and the interplay of social disadvantage and monochrome. You can find the essay on the New Welsh Review Website - it is worth subscribing to NWR as it features fascinating writing from Wales that includes a growing focus on photography in Wales.
More information about Form will follow in the coming months as well as news regarding other new writings and interviews.
